Create a New Template in Embedded Creative Templates

The embedded template builder allows users to create new design templates directly within their IntelligenceBank platform. It also supports one-to-many functionality, allowing template creators to design multiple alternative sizes for any given template. This makes it easy for Job Creators to enter their information once and have it apply to all the sizes they need. 

Follow the steps below to create a new template, or click on the headings to find out more.

1. Initiate Template Creation

  1. Navigate to any folder where you want to create the template
  2. Click "Add" in the toolbar
  3. Select "Create Template" from the dropdown menu

2. Choose Your Starting Point

You have three options for beginning your template:

Create From Blank Canvas

  1. Select "Blank Canvas" as your starting point
  2. Choose the size for your Core Layout:
    • Select from available preset dimensions, or
    • Enter custom dimensions for your specific needs

Create From Master Template

  1. Select "Master Template" as your starting point
  2. Browse and select from the available Master Templates
  3. This option provides a pre-designed foundation to build upon

Create From PSD Import

  1. Select "Import from an Existing Design" as your starting point
  2. Click "Upload PSD file" and select your Photoshop document
  3. The system will convert your PSD layers into editable template elements

Create From IDML Import

  1. Select "Import from an Existing Design" as your starting point
  2. Click "Upload IDML file" and select your InDesign document
  3. The system will convert your IDML layers into editable template elements

3. Design the Core Layout

This layout will be used to create all additional sizes. Changes made to this size will be applied to all other sizes when saved.

  1. Use the left panel in the editor to access design tools and elements
  2. Use the top toolbar to access additional editing options
  3. Add and arrange elements on the canvas as desired
  4. Customize colors, fonts, images, and other design elements

4. Set Restrictions on Elements

By default, all editing capabilities for Job Creators are disabled on elements. To enable Job Creators to edit individual elements, use the Job Restrictions button inside the editor.

  1. Select the element you wish to configure and click "Job Restrictions"
  2. Set permissions for each element to control what Job Creators can modify:
    • Text editing permissions
    • Image replacement options
    • Position and size constraints
    • Other formatting options

NOTE: These settings will be applied to all sizes when they are created, but can be updated on each individual size if needed.

5. Select Additional Sizes

The embedded template builder's one-to-many feature allows you to create additional sizes to include in your template set, making it easy for Job Creators to enter their information once and have it apply to all the sizes they need. 

Access Size Panel

  1. Locate the "Size" icon at the top of the right dock
  2. Click to open the Size panel

Create Additional Sizes

  1. Select existing size presets, or
  2. Create custom sizes based on your requirements
  3. Click "Generate" to create all selected sizes

6. Review & Refine Each Size

Once the additional sizes are created, click into each to review and refine the designs.

Review and Edit Sizes

  1. Navigate to the "Template Sizes" tab in the right panel
  2. Click into any specific size to preview and make adjustments
  3. Make any necessary adjustments for that size
    • Changes made to individual sizes affect only that specific size
    • The system automatically saves changes when switching between different sizes

If the same change is needed on all sizes

  1. Select the Core Layout and make the necessary changes
  2. Click "Save" to apply these changes to all sizes

NOTE: Changes to size and positioning of elements on Core Layout will not be applied to other sizes

Important Notes About Applying Changes:

  • Changes made to individual sizes affect only that specific size
  • Changes made to the Core Layout apply to all individual sizes when saved
  • Changes are automatically saved when switching between different sizes

Removing a Size

  • If a size is not needed, click on the Delete icon to remove it
  • If a size is deleted by mistake, it can be re-generated by following the steps above to create new sizes.

7. Configure Template Settings

These settings will determine whether Job Creators can add new elements to a Template and/or what image sources they can use.

  1. Click the "Settings" icon in the right dock
  2. Select whether Job Creators can:
    • Add new Text elements
    • Add new Shape elements
  3. Select Image Source
    • Images saved to Template: any images uploaded and/or added from the Resource Library will be available for the Job Creator to use
    • Upload from Desktop: allows Job Creator to upload their own images from desktop
    • Select from library: allows Job Creator to use images from the Resource Library
    • File types supported in the editor are: JPEG, JPG, PNG, SVG, WEBP

NOTE: Allowing Job Creators to Upload from Desktop and/or Select from Library will also enable them to create new image blocks on the canvas.

8. Preview as Job Creator

Use the Preview mode in the editor to verify that your element restrictions and settings are accurate before saving your template. 

NOTE: Template-level settings will not be captured or emulated with the Preview mode. 

9. Save Your Template

  1. Click "Save" or "Save as Resource"
  2. Confirm the Resource Name and apply any additional metadata, filters, or keywords
  3. Choose whether this template should be available as a:
    • Reusable or Master Template: Can be used as a starting point for other templates
  4. Confirm your selection (this setting can be modified later if needed)
