Anti-Virus Scanning On Resource Upload

Modified on Wed, 8 Oct at 5:41 PM

An optional add-on is available for enforcing a virus scan on any file uploaded into the Resource Library.

On Upload, a scan will occur automatically, including for the content of Zip files, and if a virus, trojan or other malware is detected, an error message will be displayed (as pictured below), and the user will not be able to save the file into the platform.

Note that this feature will slow down upload speed, and that only viruses that are known at the time of upload will be scanned for. Below are indicative examples of additional upload times observed with virus scanning enabled for a range of files:

  • 9.1MB PDF - 6 seconds extra.
  • 382MB Mp4 - 5 seconds extra.
  • 1.3G Zip - 50 seconds extra.

Note that Anti-Virus Scanning is not currently supported for uploads done via the Desktop Uploader or v2 API, or for uploads done in the Custom Pages or Survey modules.

When enabled for Resources, Anti-Virus scanning will however also apply to uploaded files to either the Single Upload or the Multiple Upload field within Database Records.

To use Anti-Virus Scanning in the v3 Graph API, please refer to the associated File Upload documentation here.
